What is De Quervain's Syndrome? De Quervain's Syndrome is a painful inflammation of tendons on the side of the wrist at the base of the thumb. Repetitive overuse of the thumb to grip, grasp, clench, pinch or wring, may irritate the sheath around the two tendons, causing thickening and swelling that restricts their movement.
What is Scoliosis? Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine that mostly affects children of different ages. 80% of scoliosis cases have unknown causes, therefore, the term ‘idiopathic’. Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) usually develops during the age when the bones are growing the fastest, i.e. ages 9 to 14 years old. On the other hand, congenital scoliosis is often detected earlier. This condition is often due to congenital diseases, such as neuro-muscular disorders or Marfan’s Syndrome. In the older population, bone degeneration is the main cause of degenerative scoliosis.
